S. O. S. – SPEAKING OF SENIORS

SAVED CLIENT $858

By Woodrow Wilcox

An elderly client who emigrated from Puerto Rico to Indiana brought a medical bill to our office and asked for my help.  The client is an elderly woman who now lives in Merrillville, Indiana.

I checked with the client’s insurance company and learned that Medicare never sent the claim to the insurance company.  The bill was from a local hospital and had an unpaid balance due of $858.20.

I wrote to the hospital and requested that it send certain essential information directly to the claims department at the insurance company.  As long as the hospital cooperates, I am sure that the insurance company will pay on the bill according to the policy terms.  My work on this will save our client over $858 that she would have had to pay because of a mistake of the Medicare system if I had not helped her.

I help senior citizen clients of this insurance agency to correct medical bill errors that are caused by mistakes in the Medicare system ALL THE TIME.  In less than eight years, I helped the clients of this one insurance agency in Indiana to save over one million dollars by canceling wrongful charges that were caused by mistakes in the Medicare system.  In past articles, I have given my calculations for why I believe that the Medicare system’s goofs are costing America’s senior citizens over one billion dollars per year.

There are many problems with the Medicare system.  There needs to be a major overhaul of the Medicare and Medicaid systems.  President Obama, Senator Harry Reid, and their political allies are “trashing” the proposal of Congressman Paul Ryan, but offering no alternative plan.  Let me remind you that the “Obamacare” law robbed senior citizens on Medicare of half a trillion dollars in future Medicare benefits.

The “Obamacare” law increased the risk of Medicare going “bust” in the near future.  So, proposing changes to save Medicare for senior citizens is the “adult” thing to do.  Ignoring the problem will not make the problem go away.  So, my advice to President Obama, Senator Harry Reid, and their political allies is to GROW UP!
